Full-day session combining immigration regulatory training with IDI-based intercultural development. Includes assessment, interpretation, individual debriefs and action planning. Additional trainer required for groups of 20+. ($1,500 + travel expenses)
The I-485, formally the Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is the final step in getting your green card from inside the United States. Approval of your immigrant petition (the EB-1A, EB-1B, or NIW) establishes that you qualify for permanent residence, but it is the I-485 that is the actual petition for the green card. If you are in the U.S. in lawful status, you can generally adjust status without leaving the country or going through a U.S. consulate abroad. Your spouse and unmarried children under 21 can apply with you.
The Toolkit and Workshop combines the full Toolkit with a day working directly with your compliance office. I come on-site and walk your team through each module in real time, applying the regulatory maps and audit worksheets to your institution's own policies and practices. Rather than leaving your office to interpret the material alone, we work through the open questions together, module by module, as a group. By the end of the day, your office leaves with a written Standard Operating Procedure grounded in that day's discussion and decisions, not just a workbook to work through on your own. (Note that the price does not include travel expenses.)
Each Toolkit module can be purchased separately. This can be especially useful if your institution has identified a particular need — a recent regulatory change, an upcoming audit, or a gap surfaced during training. Every module follows the same format: a regulatory map that traces the underlying authority, citation, and interpretive space left to the institution, paired with an audit worksheet that turns those regulations into concrete policy questions your office can answer and document. Purchase only the modules that match your priorities now, and add others as your compliance needs evolve.
Purchasing the complete Toolkit gives your office comprehensive coverage across every compliance area at once, rather than addressing needs one at a time as they surface. Because every module shares the same regulatory-map-and-audit-worksheet format, the full set builds into a single, consistent reference your office can rely on across F-1 compliance areas — not a patchwork of individually purchased pieces. It's the more economical choice if your office is building out its compliance library from the ground up, and it ensures you're not caught without a module when a new regulatory question arises.
For more in-depth consulting — whether that's a complex regulatory question, a policy review, a compliance audit, or guidance on any education-based visa issue including F-1, J-1, or H-1B — I'm available for substantive advisory engagements. That work draws on decades of hands-on experience navigating the regulatory landscape in higher education, and I bring the same careful attention to institutional questions that I bring to individual cases.
In-depth consulting is billed at $150 per hour.
